POSITION: Manufacturing Strategy Senior Manager

WHAT TO EXPECT


This role is responsible for the facilitation and delivery of transformation projects on the Solihull site.

 

The role will require a cross functional approach to delivery, to improve the Solihull performance, efficiency and effectiveness of the processes, facilities and services on site.

 

Solihull is due to go through significant change, including the MLA uplift and introduction of the JEA programme. The site and its processes need to be ready to manage this change without having an impact on the key KPI’s or effecting the well-being of its employees.

 

The Manufacturing Strategy Senior Manager will utilise the functional IBP’s to identify areas of required improvement and ensure that sufficient improvement projects are in place and successful to enable the necessary changes and deliver the multi- year transformation plan.

 

THE ROLE


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work with the Manufacturing extended team to identify projects that transform the performance of Solihull
  • Facilitate the project delivery, ensuring projects are on track or corrective actions are taken
  • Manage project delivery risks
  • Establish governance and project delivery best practice based on Agile principles 
  • Lead key projects and deploy specialist team resources to support especially on cross department improvements
  • Identify and facilitate projects through the area Value Stream maps, that will increase the versatility and improve the flow of processes to deliver cost savings and increase throughput
  • Identify bottlenecks and facilitate teams to generate ideas and solutions to overcome the obstacles
  • Design and develop solutions to enable the delivery of refocus 2.0 objectives
  • Collaborate with teams external to Solihull to support improvement projects e.g. Digital, manufacturing excellence etc
  • Collaborate with external companies and institutions to support and accelerate Solihull transformation programmes e.g. Tata Sons, Universities etc

 

Key Performance Indicators

 

The key performance indicators are ultimately the plant scorecard metrics (S, P,Q, D, C, E) but in addition metrics will need to be established for the on time, on budget, delivery of the key improvement projects.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Relevant previous experience of Project Management including consistent delivery of targets
  • Experience in Team Management including the management of multi-skilled teams
  • Proven experience of vehicle build and delivery processes and procedures
  • Thorough understanding of Engineering/Manufacturing Processes, Tools and Techniques
  • Management experience and understanding of delivering SPQDCE metrics
  • Knowledge of Lean Tools & Techniques including logical approach to Problem Solving (Application / Deployment)
  • Experience in achievement and maintenance of Quality standards (understanding and practicing the processes to achieve internal and external quality metrics including robust action plans for the continuing achievement and maintenance of such standards)
  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines & be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously
  • Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments
  • Ability to produce and deliver presentations to Manufacturing teams, Senior managers and Directors
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Legislative and Industry Standards in Automotive
  • Microsoft package elements Power Point and Excel
  • Thorough Understanding and Application of Lean Tools and Techniques
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working in partnership with a Trade Union
