POSITION:  User Experience Research Manager

What you will be doing: 

  • manage, lead, and empower a high-performing team of researchers as they conduct UX and human behavioral research (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method) in support of JLR’s digital products and experiences 
  • drive team hiring, mentorship, and performance evaluations, as well as support the team with their growth plans and career goals 
  • work with the Portland management team as we promote an inclusive culture and support our site’s growth and objectives 
  • foster a team-oriented culture by inspiring, mentoring, and challenging colleagues to create high quality, innovative products 
  • champion new and emerging user experience research methodologies, practices, and strategies to advance UX maturity at both local and global scale 
  • build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across JLR and its global offices to ensure all work meets requirements and is ready to integrate into JLR’s digital products and experiences 
  • work collaboratively with other technical leaders in User Experience Design, Customer Experience, Customer Insights, Experience Design, DesignOps, Research, and Product to advance best practices and promote cross-disciplinary outcomes 
  • maintain proficiency and skill as a technical leader and practitioner of UX Research  
  • build relationships with industry leaders, research organizations, and communities as a representative of JLR UX Research 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

What you will have: 

  • a master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Industrial Design, Industrial Engineering, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience 
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience within User Experience Research, Behavioral Research, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field 
  • 2+ years managing User Experience Research teams 
  • experience in leading the delivery of complex, multi-faceted UX Research  
  • experience working with internal design, engineering, product, and research teams 
  • demonstrated success in leading UX Research and contributing to product development from concept to successful launch and implementation in large-scale engineering product environment 
  • strong understanding of human-centered design principles and modern design standards 
  • excellent collaboration, observational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills alongside the desire and ability to see things from multiple perspectives 
  • detailed working knowledge of Agile and/or Scrum methodologies  
  • You must be resourceful, conscientious, and self-motivated 
  • You must be capable of building and maintaining strong relationships while advocating for meaningful improvements to our customer experiences
