Suspension. Engine Mounts. Wheels and Tyres. To provide an exceptional driving experience, every chassis component needs be honed to perfection. That takes all kinds of people, from designers to project managers.


The Chassis Control Systems team is primarily responsible for developing and delivering features such as electronically controlled suspension, electronic brake control, active steering controllers, active driveline controllers and configurable vehicle dynamics features, and covers all aspects of the design from requirements to implementation.


As the Suspension Controls and Actuation Engineer, you’ll be involved in creating and maintaining functional requirements for both active and semi-active chassis systems. You’ll help generate MATLAB or Simulink models to support the development of the functions ready for software coding by our industrialisation partners.


Your activities will vary day-to-day – one day you might be analysing system level requirements and conversion into vehicle and actuation control strategies, the next, creating logical and physical views to support control development. And, along the way, you’ll regularly liaise with our Chassis Systems teams to ensure full integration with other vehicle systems.


In addition, you’ll ensure that systems are compliant with functional safety ISO 26262 requirements; validate control and plant models; test control functions ‘in vehicle’ and on test rigs; and document all design and test work.




You’ll need to be a competent MATLAB and Simulink or Stateflow user, with a good understanding of applicable modelling techniques, as well as sensing and actuation technologies. Not only that, but you’ll also have knowledge of Control theory and electronics and vehicle networking, not to mention excellent systematic problem solving abilities and great communication skills.


Comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced and highly technical development environment, experience of a similar role in an automotive, marine or motorsport environment would be an advantage, along with a strong vehicle dynamics background.
