WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Engineering and Manufacturing team are responsible for delivering control systems, IT solutions and machinery safety to the latest standards. They have a significant role to play in the system integration and development of world-class engine manufacturing facilities worldwide. PTME delivers new and retooled programmes to support new model launches in petrol, diesel and electric powertrain variants across the Jaguar Land Rover enterprise.

 

As the Senior Controls Engineer, you’ll lead a team of Control Engineers whilst developing and maintaining control specifications and standards for all powertrain projects. Not only will you be involved in the commissioning of machine monitoring and quality systems, but you'll also provide technical expertise to the team’s problem-solving activities, accurately identifying the root cause and proposing corrective actions.

 

In your role, you’ll:

 

  • Develop specifications to support the RFQ stage of programmes
  • Support the vendor selection process and engineering recaps
  • Deliver design reviews as part of the MAC process, managing all deviations prior to machine build
  • Lead the team to deliver drawing approvals and vendor management prior to Witness
  • Manage the resources in the team to meet the Witness requirements in a timely manner

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

In your role as a Controls Engineer, you'll have a thorough understanding of machine electrical systems and designs alongside the experience of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programming methods. You'll hold a degree in either manufacturing or engineering and have the ability to work effectively in an engineering team, both within controls and cross-functionally. A highly self-motivated character, you’ll be expected to have the flexibility to travel, often at short notice and possibly for extended periods. Along with these skills, you'll have an analytical ability and creativity to problem-solving activities.

 

You’ll need: 

 

  • Previous experience and expertise in the specification, delivery, installation and launch of Controls Systems, preferably in an automotive or powertrain environment
  • Experience of Computer Numerically Controlled programming methods (desirable)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of machinery safety legislation and standards (desirable)
