WHAT TO EXPECT

Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles as you work in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.

This role is within the Propulsion Research area, and will focus on operational leadership related to delivery of test activity to ensure we create an environment in which industry leading propulsion technology is delivered to a world class standard.

Based at the University of Warwick and forming part of the National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC), the Advanced Propulsion Research Laboratory (APRL) will create the next generation propulsion technologies that are central to the future competitiveness of the automotive industry.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all test activity is carried out to world class standards; you’ll own the test activity including acceptance, running and reporting of tests to the agreed schedule. You’ll ensure that test activity is managed to the highest operational standards at all times, and that all issues are tracked and closed. You’ll deliver robust processes and plans and provide informative progress reports, test reports and drive collaborative activity which results in academic papers attributed to the facility and the Advanced Propulsion Research Laboratory team.

In order to maintain operational standards, you’ll support delivery of accurate budget forecasts which cover routine maintenance, breakdown support and future upgrades. You’ll additionally be responsible for running the tests to commission the laboratory in its initial stages and help to develop new talent within the team through strong leadership skills.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll be educated to a minimum of degree level in a Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field, coupled with a strong knowledge of test process and procedures for complex mechanical and electrical components and/or systems. You’ll be able to provide technical leadership and workload management experience and be a natural problem-solver with a methodical approach to fault diagnosis and rectification.

Your ability to validate, prepare and read engineering documents and detailed knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessment, COSHH and SDS will be crucial. You’ll be computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process and Single Point Lesson (SPL) documents.

A full UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points is essential.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of test methods and the facility to enable validation and verification of Powertrain sub-systems, including electrification. Six Sigma, Black Belt and Green Belt training and experience with TS16949 or ISO9001 standards and requirements would be highly beneficial.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
