WHAT TO EXPECT


Instrumentation is one pillar of the JLR Prototype Vehicle Operations division responsible for fitting of bespoke measurement and Calibration equipment to prototype vehicles and jigs. We also work alongside the PVO Build teams to seamlessly fit the equipment into the vehicles during build. 


The successful applicant will join a multi-skilled team of associates in the Instrumentation of prototype vehicles. These vehicles are customised to meet attribute test requirements and in certain cases you will be required to be creative and innovative in facilitating customer needs.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 


•    .     Assembly / replacement of electrical systems / components
•    .     Manufacture / modification of electrical harnesses
•    .     Diagnose / trace faults, rectify and validate issues
•    .     Download software updates to vehicles as required
•    .     Use of computer diagnostic equipment
•    .     Read and interpret harness drawings and liaise with engineering departments
•    .     Fitment of harnesses and electrical components
•    .     Engineer "one off" solutions to overcome issues
    
WHAT YOU’LL NEED 


•    Applicants must be qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds 1,2 & 3, NVQ level 1,2,3 or IMI level 1,2,3 and have practical experience in a relevant field.
•    Excellent Chassis & Powertrain fitting skills.
•    Ability to fabricate minor brackets and jigs.
•    Good knowledge of whole vehicle systems.
•    Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle faults.
•    Good listening & communication skills.
•    Full UK Driving Licence.
•    Flexible work location, you may be asked to work on other JLR sites on a secondment basis. 
•    Flexible to meet business requirements – e.g. overtime.
•    Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
•    Ensure all jobs are completed within agreed timeframes and that a high levels of productivity and quality are maintained.
