An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Here, you’ll design, develop and shape the future of our electronic systems. By helping us find visionary developments in everything from hybrid vehicles and infotainment to advanced electronic systems integration and electrics.

As the Diagnostics Data Scientist, you’ll work with both internal Jaguar Land Rover teams and external suppliers, and be involved in the research, design, development, deployment and continual refinement of machine learning and neural network models. In doing so, the goal will be to generate informed, data-driven decisions and metrics to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of Jaguar Land Rover’s software tool performance, and help improve vehicle quality.

Diagnostics develop, distribute and maintain a software system called Pathfinder, which is used by Jaguar Land Rover’s Retailer Technicians to prepare and repair our vehicles in customer use. The vast majority of available data will be in the form of logs generated by the Pathfinder Service tool in retailer use; this consists of data retrieved from the vehicle and events generated during the use of the software itself.

You’ll work closely with the Data Architect and Data Engineer, as well as business domain experts to understand the variety of data we collect and store, so that you can then formulate the most effective way to prepare, process and present the data to effectively answer business problems and opportunities, by using data analytics techniques.

As a result, you’ll help set the foundations for and implement an effective Machine Learning and Neural Network platform within the business. This will primarily support the Diagnostics and Quality teams in identifying issues and improvement opportunities in both the Pathfinder Service tool system and our vehicles in customer use, and will ultimately need to be integrated into the Jaguar Land Rover Enterprise architecture.

In addition, a key part of your role will involve developing machine learning models and techniques to determine the efficacy of the tool in diagnosing and delivering an effective repair, which will initially be developed and based on returned log data.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

It is essential that you have strong knowledge around the implementation of Neural Networks, extensive experience in database design and development, accompanied by SQL and database administration experience.

You’ll also have significant practical experience with statistical analytics languages, ETL, data processing, database programming and data analytics. Extensive experience with Machine Learning libraries is highly desirable, for example in Python Scikit-learn or NumPy, as well as a background in data mining and statistical analysis.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
